Health Insurance in Kentucky – What You Need to Know

Health insurance is a vital part of life in Kentucky. The Commonwealth of Kentucky offers several health insurance options for residents, and it is important to understand the ins and outs of each before making a decision. In this blog post, we will briefly outline some of the most popular health insurance options in Kentucky so that you can make an informed decision about which one is right for you and your family.

Health Insurance Options in Kentucky

There are several health insurance options available to residents of Kentucky. The most popular options are private health insurance, Medicaid, and Medicare.

Private health insurance is a type of health insurance that is provided by private companies. Private health insurance companies in Kentucky include Humana, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Cigna. Private health insurance plans typically have higher monthly premiums than Medicaid or Medicare, but they also tend to have lower out-of-pocket costs when you need to use your insurance.

Medicaid is a government-sponsored health insurance program for low-income adults and children. In order to qualify for Medicaid in Kentucky, your household income must be at or below 138% of the federal poverty level.

Medicare is a government-sponsored health insurance program for adults 65 and over or for adults with certain disabilities. There are four main parts to Medicare: Part A covers hospitalization, Part B covers outpatient care, Part C covers prescription drugs, and Part D covers long-term care.
It’s important to note that not all Kentuckians will qualify for all four parts of Medicare.
You can learn more about whether or not you qualify for Medicare on the official website.
