When to Enroll in Arizona Health Insurance
Health insurance plans in Arizona fall into two buckets: On-Exchange (ACA/Obamacare) plans, and Off-Exchange plans.
You can typically only enroll in an On-Exchange plan during the Open Enrollment period (November 1 – December 15). Open Enrollment is the time of the year that you can openly shop for a new health insurance plan. If you want to sign up for an On-Exchange plan outside of OE, then you have to have a qualifying life event.
Off-Exchange plans are much less restricted on enrollment windows. Some carriers have their own rules about when you can or cannot sign up for a new plan. However, for the most part, you can sign up for an Off-Exchange plan any time of the year.
